The procedure is used for selected supraglottic laryngeal malignancies when the surgical plan calls for removing that laryngeal region and cervical nodal tissue while retaining the remaining larynx. It is performed in a surgical facility.
Select this code when the operative report supports both the horizontal supraglottic partial laryngectomy and the radical neck dissection; a different partial-laryngectomy approach or a total laryngectomy calls for a different code. Document the resection performed, neck dissection, and clinical indication. The 90-day global includes the day-before preoperative visit and related postoperative care during the 90 days after surgery. When multiple procedures are performed in the same session, the highest-valued procedure is paid in full and other procedures are subject to the standard 50% reduction. Assistant-at-surgery payment may be made; co-surgeon payment requires supporting documentation, and team-surgery payment is not permitted.
